This attaches so easily..there are two slanted pin-like metal things in back that will actually slip into a wall surface. You could use double sided thick tape to put it elsewhere but it creates the tiniest holes ever and holds quite a bit very well. I use it in my work area and it's filled with heavy scissors, pens, highlighters etc. It hasn't nudged a bit for months. This allows you to have things at your fingertips at any work station and there are 2 slots inside the cup so you can even divide it up easily such as scissors in one slot and pens and pencils in the other.
