My previous mat, which my husband is now using, a was a floortex with the sloped edge so you could roll on and off the mat. This is not that kind of mat, but to be fair is is much less expensive. This mat is a stiffer, more brittle material with rounded, not sloped edges. Yes, I can roll on and off without catching my wheels on it, but it is not as smooth as the sloped edges, and might wear more on the floor as the wheels try to get on and off of it. Much better than the straight or square edges though.

It comes flat, because I doubt very much you could roll it without breaking it. So take care moving it and putting it down. I bought the biggest size, so I had help placing it to avoid dropping it.

On the plus side, unlike the floortex, the floor side is totally smooth, so not many places for dust and grit to lodge and wear on your hard wood floor. The top side is 'pebbled' and the chair rolls on it just fine.

The tint is a bit darker than I expected, kinda like the pale greenish color of old glass coke bottles. However my crystal clear floortex matt immediately started showing marks from my chair wheels, they shouldn't show up very much at all on this mat. That's good, because there was no getting the floortex mat clean once it's softer material got dirty.

UPDATE - Almost a year now. Still looks and works great. I am confused about the people who said their's cracked. Where they using it on a short nap rug? Ceramic tile? This is for flat hard surfaced floors. I am a rather large lady and have had no problems with cracking or breaking on a hardwood floor that is in decent shape. I would not think it would be as good on a ceramic tile floor, as the grout areas would offer no support.
