We purchased this Sandusky Lee cabinet for use as a tool cabinet in our garage work room. It isn't as heavy-duty as the description indicates as its 24-gauge steel body may show dings and dents from transit and ordinary use. (It compares with some of the less expensive filing cabinets you might find at a big box office supply store.) The overall construction is high quality and would be improved with thicker body panels.

The included shelves are well made, and seat inside the cabinet on small steel clips, easily supporting 120+ pounds per shelf in our application. If you intend on moving lots of tools in and out, be prepared for dings and scratches. But in terms of value for money, this can't be beat.

Important to note: this cabinet sits directly on the floor, with no feet or legs, allowing for heavy items to be placed directly on the loot of the shelf. If moisture is a concern, you may want to consider installing a thin sheet of ply or other material between the shelf and the floor, which will also protect your floor.

The cabinet also has a two pin locking system which secures the right side door: when opened, the left door does not stay shut. This is easily addressed with a small utility magnet to the upper corner of the door, similar to how you might use a magnet to hold closed a kitchen cabinet. The keyed lock is inexpensive and could be easily defeated but is suitable for our use in keeping small children out of our tools and work items. All in all, I would buy this unit again without hesitation for our use.
