I two of these floor lamps yesterday, and so far they are great. They're much sturdier than I would have expected. The base is heavy, the pole is actually quite thick, and is made of sturdy metal. There's also a nut you use to screw the plastic shade in to the socket, which keeps it in place and prevents wobbling. Remember to get a 50/100/150 3-way bulb to go with this lamp.

Edit: 1 Year after purchasing and these lamps are still working perfectly.
