I'm a 5'6, 120-lb woman and this chair comes up just below my shoulders, I was hoping for a chair that was a little higher, but "mid-back" was as close as I was going to get in my price range. It leans back (a big requirement for me) and is very comfortable with thick padding on the seat and back that I suspect will get softer with use. It's a little bit of a pain to put together, but luckily you only have to do that once. I'm very happy with this purchase.
